We had a wonderful evening at the 2026 Georgie Awards in Vancouver on Saturday night. The Perch, one of our most meaningful recent projects, took home Gold for Best Environmental Initiative.

The Georgie Awards, presented by CHBA BC (the Canadian Home Builders’ Association of British Columbia), recognize outstanding achievement in residential construction across the province. Being in the room alongside so many talented builders, architects, and designers is something we don’t take for granted.

We were also finalists in three additional categories: Best Custom Home $3–6 Million, Best Innovative Feature (New or Renovation), and Custom Home Builder of the Year. Four nominations for one project and our team’s broader body of work. That means a lot.

About The Perch

The Perch is a Built Green Platinum home situated in the forest with panoramic ocean views on Southern Vancouver Island. From the beginning, the goal was to create a home that would sit quietly in its landscape while performing at the highest environmental standards.

That meant renewable energy systems backed by Tesla Powerwall storage, hybrid insulation designed for the coastal climate, high-performance mechanical systems, and natural materials like hemlock ceilings that connect the interior to the surrounding forest. Every decision was made with longevity in mind.

Sustainability isn’t a separate line item for our team. We build it into every project from the start, thinking about how a home will perform 10, 20, even 30 years from now. The Perch is one of the clearest expressions of that approach. Seeing it recognized at this level reinforces what we already know: building well and building responsibly go hand in hand.

The People Behind the Project

A home like The Perch doesn’t come together without extraordinary collaboration. Thank you to Crosland Doak Design for the home and landscape design that made this project so distinctive, and to Mari Kushino Design for the interior design that brought warmth and intention to every room.

And to the homeowners who believed in this vision from the start: thank you. Your willingness to build a home that prioritizes long-term performance alongside beauty is what made The Perch possible. This award belongs to you as much as it does to us.

A Strong Run of Recognition

The Perch has had a remarkable year. At the 2025 CARE Awards, it earned Gold for Environmental Achievement and Best Contemporary Kitchen, along with six Silver awards, including a nomination for Project of the Year. Being recognized again at the Georgies is a reminder that the planning, coordination, and care built into this home continue to resonate with the industry.

Thank you to CHBA BC for the Georgie Awards program and for recognizing builders committed to raising the standard of residential construction. And to every nominee and finalist we shared the evening with: your work is inspiring.

We’re carrying this energy into the projects ahead.
